Even though life has its challenges, the worst of it tends to come from the internal dialogue; the voices and conversations that go on in our heads... Where we end up feeling like we're imprisoned by our own negative thoughts, desperately trying to escape them or worse, surrendering to them
And when it comes to creating your dream life, it’s your head and limiting self-beliefs that gets in the way of you taking action, rather than an actual obstacle or person…
You might notice thoughts creeping in like:
🚩 I can’t cope with adversity
🚩 Who am I to stand out and go after my dream?
🚩 What will others think of me?
🚩 What if I fail?
🚩 Maybe I’m being selfish for putting "me" first
🚩 Maybe I’m not enough
And even though you’re conscious of these crappy thoughts, you can’t seem to shake them and actually FEEL confident and worthy, and to trust in yourself and your own capacity 🥺
You can’t seem to take ACTION and move towards the very things that light you up 💡
Well keep reading because I’m about to share a little secret 🤫
Unless you believe the alternative, you can’t out-think your feelings… 💗
Or put another way, changing your thoughts won’t change how you feel, unless you can create new thoughts and beliefs that really resonate with you. That are so believable and in alignment that your initial thoughts now seem silly or absurd.
So when I work with clients and women in my online programs, we focus on creating new thoughts and beliefs that stretch their mindset and enable them to view things from a different perspective, but not so different that their ego kicks in and shuts down alternative possibilities....
I liken it to going to the gym... If you haven't done weights in a while, you wouldn't pick up the heaviest dumbbells or the weight that you're aiming to get to... You would meet yourself where you at, and incrementally challenge yourself and increase your muscle and therefore your strength
The brain is no different! We want to incrementally challenge it through strengthening our ability to view situations from alternative perspectives.
Here’s an example;
🖤 Instead of thinking “I can’t reach my goal”, you might consider creating a new belief like “I am going to work towards my goal and then evaluate my strategy along the way”, or "I trust that by taking action I will move closer t o my goal". (Going for "I absolutely can reach my goal" may feel too 'far fetched' for your brain so starting lighter with something that is believable tends to do the trick ;-). )
OR
🖤 “I’m not attractive enough”… instead you could think “it’s possible that I’m attractive to someone” or “I have many attractive qualities” or “the right person/people will be attracted to me”. (The opposite belief would say I AM attractive and someone may not be able to believe that just yet...)
Make sense???!
So we're going for realistic, balanced, incrementally more positive beliefs that allow for growth and expansion in the way that you view yourself, the world and others. I’m so anti false/toxic positivity and affirmations that sound poetic and romantic, but that serve no purpose in assisting you to FEEL differently 😏 Realism actually allows for positivity through EVIDENCE, not through false statements that are an attempt to boost our ego.
So I invite you to start tuning into your mind and ensuring that you're not getting in your own way…
If you find you’re in a prison of your own making, take a look at our courses and feel into whether one of my online programs where I offer coaching for women, resonates with you...
